Table for One Safety For Business Travel

Hi there,

There are things we all love and things we all hate. Some of us love to travel and attend business conferences, others of us don't  like it . Here are a few tips I hope will ease the stress. You can also listen on Maria Kamon©™ @MKPDE, on @anchor: https://anchor.fm/maria-kamon-mkpde

If your interested you can purchase this item: National Portable Table

1. Give a copy to your husband of your itinerary. Make sure to include the hotel and places you will be visiting.

2. If you are flying I suggest you let the other person know the airlines and times, dates. For car rental take a photograph of the car and email it to them with the licensed plate number. I personally take a photograph of all four sides. This also helps with insurance.

3. Uber, taxis, lift Make sure the person is paid at the end of the ride after you have arrived safely. As a pre caution you can allow someone as the information that I am gate ting into a taxis will text you or call you when I arrive safely, this too you can send a photograph of the person or car you are getting a ride from.  When I taught school I use to call it " stranger danger" I would make the children practice it on field trips. I am not saying you are in danger getting a ride from these companies, I am saying you are out of town and it is always best to practice practical safety advice.

4.  Telephone or cell phone safety. Carry all important numbers in some type of written form. Barns and Nobles is selling cute small phone books again. Just in case the battery life on your cell phone runs out, also carry an additional charging device allowing you to change your cell phone. Remember
if your battery on your cell dies and your in an emergency changing it might not be as fast as getting yourself to a safe place.

5. Hotels, make sure you find a hotel with adequate security. It is well light and you know all the safety locations of exits.

6. Enter and exit the hotel through the main door or well light areas.

7. When you enter your room make sure you read the safety information and keep all windows and doors locked.  A look out the belcony might not be acceptable if you are not in the right location. Learn about the area your travel rating. Also you can check local police records for the crime rate in the neighborhood.

8. Make sure to not leave items in view it's a temptation for others who may look in your car. In a hotel be sure to leave a tip if you are having the room cleaned every day. The difficult thing is deciding how much tip to leave since it is not mandatory. I suggest between 1-5%  of a day's charge, if you are not a needy guest. If you are a needy guest the 10-20% of a day's room change. The difference is one is saying thank you, the other is paying for the additional demands and service you are asking for. Not all hotels have enough people on staff to meet your personal needs.

What is the workings of a board?

Hi there,

An executive board is the inter-working for the board of directors.  normal what happens is the agenda for the board is passed amount them for approximately two weeks. After the online or paper discussion the finalized agenda is printed and given at the board meeting.  It is printed as a formality. Although we are in the era of a paperless generation this tradition continues, it is for the purpose to allow board members a place to take notes or just jot down ideas.

The board of directors is recommended that people are placed stratigeically to enrich your company. I  recommend that you look in your community's and choose wisely the people you want on the board, I would recommend members from as many fields of employment that are out in the community. That one consider people form different professions as a way to enchanted ones knowledge.

I be so bold to suggest one place a banker or other financial people to assist with the budgets and other long term financially planning. A physician to help with anything that may affect humans life, a pastor or religious person to help maintain the integrity of the goals set forward. I also suggest a husband and or wife of employees to receive that honest feedback of what it is like married to a person who is employed by your business. This is important onto only as an executive in the business , also because a happy employee is a n employee who will help you succeed,

As I personally when through my list I found it both a pleasure to interview people form other professions. This helped me understand at greater depths the mission of my company and business as also understanding my limits in y own industry.

Two Types of Boards

Hi there,

As you may have already heard on my Podcast or Anchor radio show, there are two types of boards in a cooperation. The first the board of directors for a company. Usually have members between 25-30 members. Each community member should have different strengths or weakness that they bring to the meetings. The meetings are for the purpose of making the business stronger and better, smarter,l proactive.
Within the infrastructure of the board there should be an executive board. It can have a minimum of 5 people no more that 12. They should have power over the budget, marketing, public image and perception as well as meet with the CEO. They should know the CEO personal, goals, hopes, dreams for the business. They should be able to ask more detailed and personal questions that do't normality have time for in front of the board.

Board Meetings

How? Why?, When?, Where,?

Hi There,

Now you are an executive with a desire to be bigger and better. One of the first things you should have is a Board of Directors.

What is a Board of Directors?:

board of directors (B of D) is a group of individuals that are elected as, or elected to act as, representatives of the stockholders to establish corporate management related policies and to make decisions on major company issues.

Why? Should I get a Board of directors?

a.) They help you manage the business of being in business. Does that make sense?

b.) They are an inter-structual support system. The help you stay on task with your business.

c.) They help problem solve before the problem happens.

When? When do I begin this? The minute you decide you are going into business for yourself. The local SCORE has great examples of what this should look like. The BBB will help you understand how to become a a community business.

Where? Where ever you meet. Home base business can meet with their board of directors in board rooms that are for rent throughout their city. From the local library to the rent office space facility, you'll be able to find a place to meet.

Take your time, do your research and be smart about your choices. Be sure to listen to my radio station on Anchor at http://anchor.fm/Maria-Kamon-MKPDE. Not your thing, listen to my daily podcast. This week's theme business. Team Playing!

Have you ever been part of a team? In school? Colleges? Work?

What is the first thing you learn. The skills of how to win the game.

Photograph downloaded from Internet.
What is the second thing you learn. In order for the first to happen you have to learn how to play as one person or member of the team.

1. Communication is the most important. Sometimes, it's done by facial expressions, hand signals, body movements. It is both the person communicating and the person receiving responsibility to understand.

2. It's important to sync times, dates, locations of meetings as well as rules, expectations, goals and behaviors.

3. Uniform, dress code. You can't show up and expect to play a baseball game in a dress and high heals can you? Then you shouldn't expect your employees to play your game without a uniform. The uniform makes people appear and feel like they are on a team. If this isn't clearly known than an employee is at liberty to dress as one feels or can afford. An employer should provide financial compensation for.

4. Salary: Are your players received compensation for what you have asked them to do? No, we'll than you can't expect much from them. You don't pay, they don't play. I used to have a friend in Mary Kay and her quote was always "No Ticky,  No Washy" meaning you don't purchase a ticket and pay admission you are not allowed to participate. It was important for her to make money for herself first before she helped other people. There,  I capture the flags, then I can help you learn how to do the same.

2016-2017 Fashion Season Pick Choice #3

Dolce and Gabbana

Hi there,

Have you ever had a young man ask you "What shall I were? The first time I was asked this I was taken by surprise at the reality that Men don't always from up with the experience of attending a variety of events. What is it with our society that we have stopped offering our youth the ability to mature and live a productive life.

Here are a few of my thoughts on this year's fashion season. It is a brave move from Dolce and Gabbana. From Kings to Lions to dog, how much can a young man bear in the world. We really do put our youth to the test.

I would say this season is trendy, cool and fresh! With its no sock policy and shorter pants leg, Dolce and Gabbana has taken the trend off the chart! How awesome is this. These kids have grown up carrying backpacks from the time they enter preschool and now they transition into young business professionals...

These young men know who they are and where they are going. Although temptation is all around them as woman walk around in lounger look clothing. They seem to be unfazed by the whole thing and keep focused on what they want to become in life. I love how this traditional years it is acceptable to carry whimsy around. Letting people around them know where they are in life.

Color and glamor our is no longer a stigma of are you gay or straight. They have the confidence to know who they are as individuals and will not let anyone lead them astray.

With freedom of speech these young men have the ability to say if they are dogs or followers of the King. With knowledge comes freedom, with freedom comes responsibility. I would say these young men know who they are caring , if it is friend or family. Maybe it is that they are caring
themselves.

With this as my third pick I say young people have a way of expression that has never been expired before. They are individuals.

Conference

Hi there, Reader;

Every profession has a professional organization that helps them become better at the job they do. Employment is never easy. Meeting and Event planners have several organizations that allow this. Each have their own conferences.
There is:

  1. ABC - Association of Bridal Consultants
  2. ISES - The International Business Society
  3. MPI - Meeting International Professionals
  4. PPI - Party Planners International
  5. NACE - National Association of Caterers and Events
Each of these organizations represent a different part of the industry. What we have to offer. We are educated on the Lawson planning Events, tends, logistics, who are clients, professionalism and protocol of event planning.

Much like your professional organization they have a yearly conference.  I'm sure Pastors, preachers attend conferences. The President of the United States attends conferences, Accountants attend conferences. If your in any kind of business you probably have a professional group that attends conference.

I'm looking forward to attending this years conference. I'll let you know the latest and the greatest.

When attending a business conference remember to:

  1.  Confirm all reservations and airlines.
  2. Have passport ready if you are traveling out of the country.
  3. Make sure you have some form of identity protection in place. They will help you recooperate just in case.
  4. Let family know where your traveling to and leave them an itinerary of the events. Mainly flight numbers, hotel numbers transportation you'll be using and with whom if anyone you'll be traveling with.
  5. With all the issues in the world it is better to be safe. I'd share with you my own experience with sexual violation, room entry and theft if I thought it would help. Remember it is still considered the workplace and it is still against the law. If anything happens report to authorities right away, not only the event organizers, local police, newspapers and if at all possible take photographs. Do what you have to to to stay safe.

Every Planner Has A Planner

Hi there, Reader;

I am caught in the whirl of planner this plan that and planner people who say use my product. They send me products constantly to try out.  How creative can a planner be? We are as creative as our planner. I laughed as I say that because within the planner community there is an endless verity of planners. That's not including all the apps that will also plan and organize your life.

I did want to wish this planner a Happy 19th Birthday! Do you journal in your planner? Yes! Do you keep track of your appointments in your planner? Yes! Do you keep important information,.such as daily things to do, organization, personal information, pass codes, credit card numbers, doctors, family, friends phone numbers? Yes! Take a look at the Hobonichi planner and see if it fits your needs.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the ease of customizing this planner to suit my personal and business needs. It has the flexibility ,so on the days where I might not have words to express myself I can easily create a sketch or small drawing. On the days where I am filled with appointments or meetings I can just use it as journal entry. The flexibility is perfect for the needs of students to needs of professionals and everything in between. Are you a busy mom? Yes! Are you the artistic type who needs to just have a place to put your creative thoughts? Yes! Then this might just be the planner for you! Let's make a toast 🍶 to Hobonichi: May you have many years, may your days be long and your inspiration be filled with the joys of such a great product.

Congratulations Canada 150th Anniversary of Confederation

Canada 150 Years Old

Hi there, Readers;

This is such an exciting year all around the world with different nations celebrating different anniversaries in  fight to be recognized throughout the years in History. I confess I really don't know much about Canada, other than it is cold weather and beautiful countryside in the spring and summer. When I read this article that it is a good year to visit Canada in business because of its celebration I knew I had to write a blog about it. In the hopes I will be hired to speak or plan a meeting there. Our neighbors to the United States are rather quiet in US History and probably an excellent choice for planning a business meetings or event in the lovely country.

In Montreal this year there is more to celebrate than the Confederation. The city celebrates 375th birthday. There will be a slew of celebrations throughout the city. There is so much history there. It appeals to us like New York, Chicago or San Fransico. It will have its celebrations of lights, music and history.

Hours northeast is Montreal sits an even high settlement: Quebec City, Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain. This is the only fortified city north of Mexico.

Eastern Canada

Here are a list of places to visit.

  • Royal Musuem 105-year olf grande dame of Canada's Culture
  • Art Gallery of Ontario can handle groups of 2500 for sit-down meals only 400
  • Royal Ontario Museum
  • Gardiner Museum Canada's National Ceramic Museum
  • Aga Khan Museum Persian Art
  • Hockey Hall of Fame
  • Metro Toronto Convention Centre
  • Hilton Toronto Downdown
  • Omni King Edward Hotel
Montreal
  • Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
  • Pointe-a-Calliere
  • Musee d'art comtemporain de Montreal
Quebec City
  • Musee National des Beaux Arts de Quebec
  • Musee de la Civlisation
  • Musee de l'Amerique Francohon
  • Aquarium du quebec
  • Le Monastere de Augustines
  • La Citadelle
  • Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac
Each of these place need to be contacted personally for more information on pricing, meeting and event space available for rental. Beautiful venues always have a price and I highly recommend if you are a business that has an event planner on site you have them do the investigative work, if not hire a independent meeting and event planner to plan it for you.

Before 911 Happens To Your Business

Meeting Security Heats Up

Hi there, Readers;

If you are a meeting an event planner thank you for following or reading my blog. If your just enjoying my post also thank you. This one may or may not apply to you. This blog is for those of us in the industry.

If you remember back to the September 11, 2001 and everything that happened. Security was a big issue. I just read an article in Smart Meeting that Meeting Security is Heating Up. It's that time for our industry to make sure our security measures are in place. The article goes into greater detail and weeks industry professions have to make sure we know what we are doing.

1. Check what is written in your mission statement and business plan about security. Is it still in place? If not make sure it's back in place.

2. First Aide Make all those responsible for public safety to have taken classes. Make sure the first Aide kit is in place with appropriate supplies in case of emergency. This is different than a disaster kit. Make sure that is up to date and not expired.

3. Each business is suppose to have a plan in place against terrorism. Is yours in place?

4. Make sure you know the difference between Safety verses Security.

5. If you don't know what is right for your business call a.) Fire Department b.) Police Department for a volunteery inspection. It's better that you call then be fined or someone get hurt and your businesses is out of compliance. There is also c.) You can hire a professional consultany to do both. Just make sure they have the proper credentials.

6. Make sure you follow through on any recommendations they might have for you.

If it's back in the news for meting and Event planners, it's back to being important for your business.

Corporate Incentive Series 2 for 2017

              MK Pure Diamond Events #2

My second pick is Nixon. Their campaign this year is Love. Since I work in an industry with professional photographers I have noticed this is one of their favorite camera. Wedding photography is all about love and catching special moments between couples. I can't help to wonder ask myself how many of those photographers use Nikon? I am who I am. Sometimes, it's like that when your planning a wedding, event. You have to be for your customers / clients, however you always have to represent your own business. I am MK Pure Diamond Events, just like Nikon is claiming they are Nikon.

There is a blog that goes more into detail about Nikon product. NIkon Blog. Now if your a corporation looking for an incentive gift, beware giving this might just make your employee a professional photographer. Their family would really like that, who better to start photographing with than the family. That's exactly what Nikon offers a family of products from the serious photographer to the amiture photographer.

Like always please read the disclosure at the contact page. I am not a paid endorcement for Nikon, however I am not appose to receiving products and expressing my opinion. Please be advice the photograph used in the blog is a photograph of Nikon's ad taken by Maria Kamon.  All Nikon ad rights are Nikon.
