Christmas Lights

Shine so bright,

Brighter than the nights.

How I wish you'd light my path,

Right with the joy of Christmas.

Christmas is the light of the year

For those that know the reason

What would you say if I told you 

I miss my child this year.

His sudden death left this mom 

Without desire to worship.

They thought it would teach me a lesson,

That Jesus could be you.

Instead they took it out on my child

Because he knew the truth.

That Jesus in the Bible,

Doesn't mean it's the son a woman gives birth to.

My son was and will always be forgiven,

He was too young to understand the evil

Men could bring him.

How do I know the difference,

The Holy Spirit tells me.

What would the spirit do if I and others are lied too.

Then there not be believers,

just evil doers.

If there are evil doers then would that really make me worship?

1980's Weddings

1980's Weddings

The 1980s became the Me! Me! Me! generation of status seekers.   During the 1980s, hostile takeovers, leveraged buyouts, and mega-mergers spawned a new breed of billionaire.  Donald Trump, Leona Helmsley, and Ivan Boesky iconed the meteoric rise and fall of the rich and famous.  If you've got it, flaunt it and You can have it all! were watchwords.   Forbes' list of 400 richest people became more important than its 500 largest companies.  Binge buying and credit became a way of life and 'Shop Til you Drop' was the watchword.  Labels were everything, even (or especially) for our children.  Tom Wolfe dubbed the baby-boomers as the 'splurge generation.'  Video games, aerobics, minivans, camcorders, and talk shows became part of our lives.   The decade began with double-digit inflation, Reagan declared a war on drugs, Kermit didn't find it easy to be green, hospital costs rose, we lost many, many of our finest talents to AIDS which before the decade ended spread to black and Hispanic women, and  unemployment rose.  On the bright side, the US Constitution had its 200th birthday, Gone with the Wind turned 50,  ET phoned home, and in 1989 Americans gave $115,000,000,000 to charity.  And, Internationally, at the very end of the decade the Berlin Wall was removed - making great changes for the decade to come!   At the turn of the decade, many were happy to leave the spendthrift 80s for the 90s, although some thought the eighties TOTALLY AWESOME.

The 1980's the generation known for "Me" was about themselves?  Not believing that this was in tiredly true. 

  They were thought to be trying to find their own individuality. 

 Their need was to make their way in life.  The pervious generations were the ideals of the 50's the freedom of the 60's the dance era of the 70's the 80's used computers to print invitation.        Computers became part of education,                 Creativity, was a part, the Prince Charming arrived on a white horse, to take his bride away.  The world witnessed a Royal wedding.  Patterns were more available and people planned both home formal and informal weddings. 

  

                                                                       It was a time of celebration. 

         There were new magazines for brides to use as reference.

                                                                                                                                                 The world saw weddings from other Cultures,   Princess from other nations. The American way changes as we become educated on the other cultures, race, religion. Computers played a big part the beginning of Internet let people research their weddings and see how different marriages operate.

1940 Wedding

1940's Wedding

The 40's were a little different then the other generations.  The focus was still on family and providing the best you can.  

The American Dream perception was still alive and everyone was greatful for who and what they are.

The 1940's were dominated by World War II. European artists and intellectuals fled to the United States from Hitler and the Holocaust, bringing new ideas created in disillusionment. War production pulled us out of the Great Depression. Women were needed to replace men who had gone off to war, and so the first great exodus of women from the home to the workplace began. Rationing affected the food we ate, the clothes we wore, the toys with which children played.

After the war, the men returned, having seen the rest of the world. No longer was the family farm an ideal; no longer would blacks accept lesser status. The GI Bill allowed more men than ever before to get a college education. Women had to give up their jobs to the returning men, but they had tasted independence. 

Today we make the past romantic, why because they are stories within us.

We see images of what it use to be like and hope that our lives too will have some of the blessings of the previously generations. 

From cake toppers to relationships the difference was people were thought of as individuals.

We were wiser with the knowledge of Holocaust.  The World War II brought a reality and knowledge no one really wanted, had to accept.

Identity thrifts were the first to imager as the people left their county to start new. Walking in someone's shoes was a way to help or hurt.  The believe is that what was happening to the humans on earth was inhuman.  Shoes and dresses were made of the same fabric.  Making them strong durable and able to "Stand the test of time!"

If you knew the right person or had the means you could afford the best.  This is true today, dresses with elaborate details for some  is perfection!

 The perfect hairstyle is part of the era of formality.

                                                                        It went along with the perfections.

 The Floral bouquets were large. The woman were like today friends are friendship. 

    Pictures were posed, not to many natural or journalistic.   

 What a change today we can incorporate products form the past to add to the feel of the era.

            

Themes can also be enhanced by props. It can be the simplest attention to details that helps you suceecd,

The gowns can be flowing and elegant with simplistic beauty and elegance. The Marchesa bride as in contras to the bride of the 30's in a slip dress!

                                                                                Both beautiful brides it makes it a choice rather than a have too.
