Those of you who don't want to go to Mexico, just to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
History:
During the "French-Mexican War there was a
Moral Victory at the Pueblo in response the French, Britain, and Spain set naval forces to demand reimbursements. Britain and Spain Negotiated with Spain and withdrew, but France rule by Nepoleon lll decided to carve a Mexican Territory out o Mexico. The French stormed in the landing and forced the President and his Government to retreat!
Today, Mexican celebrates the anniversary of the "Battle of Puebla as Cinco de Mayo, a national holiday in Mexico. (Read the History Channel for details)
Ways for Families to Celebrate "Cinco de Mayo"
When you have young children and what to get them interested in History, and the reason we celebrate holiday, food is naturally a part of it.
Encintas Best:
1. Best tortillas in El Napalito, great food eat in their Resturant or take home. Not sure if they still have their store, definitely worth checking this place out.
2. Juanita's Taco Shop love this place! You surf? Large portions and perfect after surfing when you are hungry and need a big meal. Cinco de Mayo is a perfect time to try the food. Mainly take-out. Few tables where you can eat in. The burritos are excellent!
3. El Callejon next to Leucadia pizza parking is limited and the food is delicious. Call ahead it will be busy tonight. Food is delicious , not sure if they serve take out I've always eaten in.
4. Korina's Taco Shop They have a few seats for eat in and what I love about this place is their variety. Mainly, I personally like you can order the food you want pick it up and it will still be warm when you get it home. Excellent taquitos aka rolled tocos.
5. Garcia: The newest Resturant in town, haven't tried this one yet, every time I've stopped by the parking lot is full and there is a waiting period. Make reservations call ahead!
