Hi there,

For some people preparing for the holidays can be stressful for others joyful. Which type are you?

Either way here are some coping strategies.

  • There is never enough time in a day when you are planning a holiday get together.  Take time and write down all the task that need to be done. Add times to them if possible. If you have people to delegate things to do ton then do so and get out of their way. If they are adults they'll get things done. The goal is to not yell, scream or nag at them. Occasionally, check on children and adults doing task for you. Asked them how they are doing. Task completed? If not ask them if they need something to drink. Remind them how great they are and you believe in them. Then go back to your task.
  • Don't worry. Worry eats your energy and lack of  mental, physical or emotional energy causes incredible mood swings. Extreme moods are usually not much fun to be around.
  • Speed in which one does things can create stress and imperfections. It is better to take ones time and get the work done correctly then have to re-do things. (Remember children G completing a task do not have to be perfect .)
  • Play music that will help you.
  • Keep the end in mind. Meaning it will happen weather everything is perfect or not.
For those attending "the day"

  •  Look up location before you have to drive it. Order an Uber Lift or Taxi if needed.
  • Be sure have a hostess gift ready and wrapped. Prepare anything else you might need to take. Put it together in one location and write yourself a note and place it on the refrigerator. Also write the time you'll be leaving the house.
  • Have your clothing ready. Know what your wearing. Make sure it's clean and pressed.
  • Relax.
  • Play music that will help you enjoy the process.
