10 Free Things To Do In San Diego

Hi there;

It's almost full on summer. Weekend trips to the beaches. Locals looking for something to do. Why is it the smell in the air? The nice weather? The feeling of freedom because the children our out of school? Io think it's probably al of it. OUr thoughts change in the summer and that's human nature.

I did a little research and come up with these top ten things to do in San Diego that are Free!

10.  Mission Bay Park , Mission Bay

All types of recreational fun. From water craft rentals to just day camping in the local grass area. This locations offer families a great deal of fun.

9. Moonlight Beach, Encinitas

With fire pits, volleyball, clean bathrooms and shower area Moonlight beach is one of my personal favorites. Not only for social events like, also to take the family and just spend a day at the local beach. Not a good beach to bring a lot of thinks parking on a hill and climbing back up the hill with lots of things at the end of the day can prove to be a workout.

8. La Jolla Shores. La Jolla

La Jolla shops, restaurants, museum and local entertainment. You'll find a great selection of hotels. Although it is children friendly, I would best describe it as adult area. Great for a weekend getaway. Lots of cozy places for couples to romance each other.

7. San Diego Embarcadero ,  Downtown San Diego

Like to walk? Like to see sea vessels. Want to take the fairies to Coronado? Or just a day cruise with the Hornblowers? One of the famous places to eat is Anthony Fish House. It s a fun place to enjoy a few hours in the day. There is tours available of India Ship and the Naval ship. You can also check the local newspaper and see what concerts are in town.

6. Children Pool La Jolla, La Jolla

La Jolla filled with child tide pools. Great place to see the seals live in the wild. It is amazing to see nature up close. Don't mind the fish smell it really is from the seals. Make sure your children stay behind the roped off area. Mama seals don't like the babies messed with, I always think the same thing. That is so true. They do what is in their nature to protect their children.

5. Torrey Pines State Beach, Torrey Pines

One of the funniest hiking trails in all of San Diego. If your a backpacker pack Picnic Lunch climb the hills  all the way to the beach and have a nice day relaxing on the beach. I am not sure if it is still the same its been away since I have gone hiking there the sand use to be a beautiful back color. Something I had never seen in the states. You might want to see if drone flying is acceptable there because it is that picturesque. (Also they still may have nude swimming) Please check with parks and recreation to see what the 2017 rules of the park grounds are.

4. Old Town Historical Park, San Diego,

This little historical town is fun to visit with its Mexican theme and historical sights. From its bazaar.                 shops to its Mexican Food Restaurant . Please stop by one of the local Restaurant and pick up a dozen home made tortillas. They are deviously irresistible. The other option is to have a picnic lunch at the historical park. I personally enjoy shopping at all the American made Mexican wear and then stopping at the Old Town Mexican Cafe for a Margarita, Dinner and home made tortillas. Yum!

3. Balboa Park, San Diego

Do you like Museums, Botanica Gardens, or just people watching? Then this is the place to be walk around looking at all the people or check the newspaper to see what locals are playing on stage. You can stay until night and watch the magic of the twinkle lights light up the place. It's really beautiful day or night and plenty to do for the whole family. Make sure you walk all around the pond, you'll find other places you can visit hidden within the park.

2. Torrey Pines Glidden Point

This one I don't have any personal experience with, therefore I'll ask you to visit it and let me know what you think.

1. Coronado, San Diego

One my favorite places. The is cute little town is unique. Not only in the event planning. Also with how the town is set up. You can take the fairy or drive over the bridge... one of the funniest times tourist this town is over 4th of July weekend. If you haven't already please make your reservations. You won't be able to get there on the actual day. It's too crowded. They might be booking 2018. Call locals hotels to find out. The day start early with the forth of July parade and the to the beach or celebrate and close the evening with watching the fireworks over the water. If your planning a weekend or vacation I recommend the Hotel del Coronado.
